Hope shero signa palmieri fast. After that, he should go out and maybe find another palmieri type trade.. Hoffman,yakupov.... Then bring in one quality FA okposo erickson or two mid tier guys like stempniak, parenteau or hudler if he doesnt want to spend or sign guys for 2plus years. If were talking about new guys in, id be okay with one trade and one quality FA. Or two mid tier guys

I hope NJ does not sign Okposo. He is overrated. Why doesn't anyone mention Lucic?

Because he is overrated and overpriced.

I wouldn't go after Okposo, Lucic, or Eriksson. Not a strong UFA class. See what we could get from taking on other contracts.

Lucic is going to decline very fast over the next few years. Similar to other power forwards like Dustin Brown, Ryan Kesler, Mike Richards (that one had some other things going on), David Clarkson, Dave Bolland, etc.

I'm worried we might overcommit money to Palmieri. He had a great year, but I can also see him being a Nick Foligno type situation. One great season on a contract year, gets paid, and then comes back down to Earth.

who else would you rather us move forward with? you have to spend somewhere.
He's only gotten better in his brief career. Remember he's only 25 and just had his 3rd full season (4 seasons ago was the lockout and 2 seasons ago played 57 games to injury). No reason not to think he can repeat. It's not like most of his goals were lucky bounces or deflections. He's got enough speed, plays both ends of the ice, and has a decent shot.

Agreed. I wouldn't go beyond 3 years at 4 mil. I don't think he should make more then Henrique, when Henrique has scored more than 40 points for 3 consecutive years and counting.

I want him resigned too, but I don't think we should throw out expensive, long term contracts with based on a "we don't have anything better" mindset.

but he's kinda a top 6 forward on any team. he's not Ovechkin, but I don't mind giving him some cash. I think Shero will make us all happy.

Palms is a RFA after next season as well. We could just give him another 1 year deal or a 2 year deal. A "prove it" that u can do it again kinda deal. If he pots 30 goals again, then I think we can safely give him the big money for 5 years.

Ehh kind of a slap in the face if you're Palmieri. He was our best, most consistent player this year. I think Shero locks him up AT LEAST 5 years.

You don't have to spend money with the exception of getting to the Cap floor.

Other than that, why spend on overrated garbage?

Dont' spend it just for the hell of it. Lou is gone, hopefully so are his garbage bin deals for overrated or aging players.

Let's enjoy that the team has space to spend on good, young, legit talent.
